People are saying that coding jobs are all gone, or at least will be gone. Is this really the case? I agree that basic programming jobs are not needed so much anymore – true. But, there are things beyond the basics that are utilized to implement unique ideas. Or, to explain it in a different way – to be able to imagine what is possible, you need to know beyond the basics. Let’s imagine that you are a bird and you want to fly. To be able to fly higher and higher, you need stronger wings. And the higher you fly, the more you see, and the more possibilities there are. A basic set of wings is not going to be able to give you what a strong set of wings will.
Unfortunate for our junior developers, yes. They need time to grow strong wings. They need time, motivation, resistance, inspiration, assurance, and more. Are we giving these to them? At their current status, they can’t provide what businesses need. But they need the experience somehow. How are they going to get it if they are not working in a proper business setting? That’s the question of the day. What if governments come up with programs that will incentivize businesses to employ these junior folks?
And for mature folks, with a number of years of wisdom already under their wings – they need to start flying high. Study, learn, think, and grow their knowledge base to make your wings even stronger so that you can see more – just like a bird flying really, really high.
